Welcome back to a new semester! As we begin Fall 2025, the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is excited to share a few of our many resources to help you start the semester with confidence and creativity.
Student-Friendly Syllabus:

Your syllabus is often the first impression students have of you and your course—why not make it a welcoming one? The TLC compiled a set of evidence-based strategies to help you design syllabi that do more than list policies, they invite students into a supportive and engaging learning experience.
AI in your Course:

As you think about how generative AI might show up in your course, it’s important to clearly communicate your expectations to students. To help you think through your approach, check out this blog post which outlines a five-level AI assessment scale. It is a good resource for crafting a syllabus statement that fits your teaching style and helps students understand what is acceptable in your class (and why).
D2L Design Resources:

Looking to refresh your D2L course design? The D2L Homepage and Module Page Templates are ready-to-use and fully customizable to fit your teaching style. You’ll find sample layouts, style guides, and step-by-step instructions for copying and editing templates. Plus, with Creator+ tools, you can easily add interactive content and practice activities to engage your students. If you need help, schedule a time to meet with a designer.
Learning Accommodations and Teaching Strategies:

The increase in accommodation requests can understandably feel overwhelming. It is important to remember that accommodations are not solely about meeting legal obligations—they are about fostering inclusive learning environments where all students have the opportunity to succeed. The Office of Educational Accessibility and the Teaching and Learning Center have developed resources to help you support diverse learning needs.
Fall’25 Technology Roundup:

Explore the curated list of university-supported technology tools designed to enhance your teaching. Tools like Poll Everywhere, Padlet, and H5P offer interactive features that can help foster student engagement, support active learning, and bring variety to your course activities to enrich your instructional approach.
Student Advice for Faculty

Students have some great insights about what helps them learn. Through the Student Faculty Teaching Collaboration Program, student collaborators offered some advice for faculty, grounded in their experience observing teaching in progress. Their message is clear: communication, compassion, and consistency matter.
