Introducing Building Your Teaching Legacy

What do you want students to remember from your classes, years after they leave West Chester University?

For many faculty, the answer extends beyond course content. We hope students remember feeling challenged, supported, and inspired, and that they left our classrooms seeing themselves and the world a little differently. Those lasting impressions form our teaching legacy.

Teaching legacies are shaped through reflection, experimentation, scholarship, and a commitment to continuously refining our practices. To support that work, the Teaching and Learning Center is excited to introduce Building Your Teaching Legacy: The EASL Studio Guide. This new resource is designed to help faculty identify development opportunities that align with their goals, interests, and schedules.

Built around four flexible pathways, the guide helps faculty identify opportunities that align with where they want to invest their time, attention, and effort.

  • Explore new ideas, strategies, and resources.
  • Apply evidence-based practices to support student learning.
  • Study questions about teaching and learning through inquiry and scholarship.
  • Lead by mentoring, facilitating, and contributing to a culture of teaching excellence.

The EASL Studio Guide invites faculty to make intentional choices about how they develop their teaching practice and the impact they hope to have on students. Whether you are exploring a new idea, redesigning a course, investigating student learning, or sharing your expertise with colleagues, this guide can help you build your teaching legacy.

Download the guide and begin charting your own pathway for building a lasting teaching legacy.
