Faculty Mentoring Committee Panels on Scholarly Productivity and Promotion

Mentoring Matters - WCU Faculty Mentoring Program logo

The Faculty Mentoring Committee (FMC) is dedicated to supporting faculty success in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship. The primary vehicle for this support is the Faculty Mentoring Program, which matches faculty with experienced and dedicated mentors; this programming includes mentors for new faculty, adjunct faculty, and faculty interested in promotion. Additionally, the FMC offers programming to the larger faculty community targeted at supporting their success as well. To this end, in Spring 2025, the FMC offered two panel presentations.

The first, on January 30th, focused on Scholarly Productivity. Productive scholars from all colleges served on the panel and shared their tips on how to maximize scholarly productivity: Notes on Scholarly Productivity Panel. The second, on February 20th, consisted of recently-promoted faculty from across the university who, in this case, shared their tips on successfully preparing for and navigating the promotion process, at all levels: Notes on Promotion Panel.

We are pleased to share the notes taken at each of these panels. We hope you find them helpful!

Note: If you are interested in being a mentor next year, please reach out to either Ralph Sorrentino (rsorrentino@wcupa.edu) or Michelle Blake (mblake@wcupa.edu). If you are interested in running for a spot on the Faculty Mentoring Committee, nominations and self-nominations are called for every spring by APSCUF.
